Gibson Grabber bridge

Gibson Grabber / G3 bridge Part number 10149 (1977), 81554 (1981). This simple lightweight bridge was manufactured from pressed metal plate, in a similar style to those fitted to the majority of Fender bass models. It was naturally cheaper to produce than the heavy cast three-point fitted to the Gibson Ripper, and without the 'sustain sister' mounting posts previously used on the majority of Gibson basses. It was designed for, and fitted exclusively to two Gibson's least expensive mid seventies basses, the Gibson Grabber and G3, the first of which shipped in 1973, the last in 1985.

It was a superior design to the SB bass bridge (Gibsons previous budget bridge), being simpler, more robust, and far easier to adjust. However, unlike the aforementioned three-point bridge that could be strung to the bridge or through the body, the Grabber/G3 version had to be strung through the bass body, requiring extra long scale strings.

Size: 2 5/16" x 2", held in place with four screws. Note the G-string saddle-bolt is longer (1 1/2") than the other three bolts (1 7/32"), with a slightly longer spring too.
