This pickup is still essentially the same part as the late 60s version, however it now has a black plastic surround; an important change as it allows height adjustability of the neck pickup for the first time, despite already being in use for over a decade. The chrome cover is unchanged, measuring 2 3/32" x 3 1/2". but now bolts to a baseplate, rather than screwing directly into the body. Around 1971 many of these pickups were produced with a Gibson logo etched into the cover. Gibson part number 13559(1971), 13573(1981).
